About Us

Founders of CA Care

The cock crows at the break of dawn
Reminding me of the new born resolve
With the knowledge You’ve bestowed upon me
Show me Lord, Your way.
– Prayer of 1995

In May 1995, CA Care was born. It started from the sitting room of the home of
Dr. Chris K H Teo and his wife, Ch’ng Beng Im. We started by helping Benedict
Yeoh who was down with liver cancer. A week later, Ben brought in Vijay who
had lung cancer. From this humble beginning, the word spread and many came to
us for help.As of date, we have helped many hundreds of people who had cancer.

Dr. Chris K. H. Teo, Dip. Agr. (M), B. Agr. Sc. (Hons.)(M), M.S, Ph. D. (Hawaii), Dip. Hom.,
was formerly a Professor of Botany at Universiti Sains Malaysia. He retired from this
position after teaching and research at that University for 26 years. He has written
numerous research papers and more than a dozen books. He was a fellow of the Matsumae
International Foundation, fellow of the Alexander von Humbolt Foundation, and also
was a consultant to UNDP-OPS-Bhutan Government.

Ch’ng Beng Im, B. Sc. (Edu.) (Hons.), was a school teacher and had contributed
tremendously towards the success of CA Care.

For those who ask for help online

Thank you very much for writing to us about your problem. We fully understand the need to find alternative methods when medical science has failed. CA Care exists because of this need. In the past we did try to help cancer patients via the net. But our experience showed that we failed miserably. It did not work out.

To be useful to cancer patients:

  • I need to see patients personally or at least a family member who knows exactly the problem. I need to talk to them and assess their problems face to face. By seeing the patients, I might be able know what was wrong with them. Then I need to see all the medical reports and scans – blood test results, USG, MRI, CT or PET scan.  It is only after this study and dialogue that I know exactly what to do and prescribe the herbs. There are over 100 types of herbal teas that we specially formulated for cancer patients and they are specific for each problem. So to get the best from our experience means we just cannot do things on line.
  • After patient takes the herbs, I would need them to come back again after a week or two for me to assess the effectiveness of the herbs. If there is a need to I may have to add or subtract certain herbs.
  • By meeting and talking to patients and know what they eat, how they live, etc. I would be able to know what has gone wrong and suggest changes.
  • Cancer is a complex problem that involves both physical and mental aspects. Taking herbs alone is no magic. We have to do more than that – change of lifestyle, mental attitude, diet etc.

The above is nothing new. Patients need to be physically present to get help from their medical doctors. Every patient knows that. The same applies to CA Care. This is even more necessary knowing that almost all patients who come or write to us are medically failed cases – they are generally at the end stage where their doctors cannot meaningfully help them anymore. So at CA Care, I need to be more serious and more committed than just reading emails and trying to play god.

I hope you understand through this short explanation that it is extremely hard for me to help patients who live in foreign countries. I have tried this for some years and my experience showed me that at the end of it all, it is just a waste of effort and also a waste of money on your part. It is most frustrating indeed for me.

If you have read our articles in the websites: or or patients do experience miraculous healing. You will note that these patients (or a family member) come here and we do the therapy together. That is the reason why they succeed. I need to see patients every now and then to know what is going on.

I don’t want to be negative.  I understand that you need help but I must be sincere and honest to myself too. In my heart I know there are times and situations when I just cannot help. The problem is beyond me to solve. And I also know that I cannot solve everybody’s problem in this world. I have been working very hard every day to help cancer patients and I know in my heart that I can do that much and no more.

But please don’t give up. If you open up your heart and mind, you will know that there are also alternative healers in your own country. Why don’t you try them? Ask around and you may find one. I am sorry for being unable to help.

The CA Care Therapy

Our Principles

•  We do not substitute medical doctors. We advise you to seek proper medical help.
•  In addition, we advocate the use of herbs, and take a holistic approach towards your healing.
•  We do not guarantee that the herbs can cure you of your cancer, but experiences of others showed that the herbs brought great relief and healing.
•  Healing can only come if you lead a healthy lifestyle, free of stress (physical and mental) and take proper food. Having peace of mind and to believe in God – the Almighty Healer – is just as important as taking herbs or medicine.

Cancer is a complex problem that needs multi-approaches to achieve healing. The strategy is to heal from within, while at the same time, resolve some uncomfortable symptoms. The Cancer Care Therapy is a healing-orientated therapy that is being used since 1995, mostly by patients in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. There are also patients from Australia, UK, France, US and the Philippines who follow the Cancer Care Therapy.

CA Care Therapy

Benefit and Success Rate of CA Care Therapy

Step 1: Give Total Commitment to Your Healing

This is your sickness and only you can heal yourself, others can only help. Living a positive life and managing cancer is your responsibility, not the doctor’s. If you refuse to change your ways and lifestyle or if you refuse to provide a helping hand to the healing power within you, who else can?

Our experiences show that those who actually participate in the healing process benefited and won.

Step 2: Seek proper Medical Help

CA Care does not substitute medical doctors. We strongly advise you to get the best from medical science, but at the same time, know of the limitations of the science itself. There would come a stage when there is only that much a doctor could do and no more. Therefore, you need not always leave your fate entirely to your doctors. It is written that there is no single cancer treatment that is universally effective or guarantees a complete cure. In cancer treatment, there is nothing certain except the uncertainty of its result.

The conventional medical treatments for cancer consist of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. The patients pay dearly in terms of pain, suffering and money. On top of this, there is no guarantee that these treatments will work for you. It is estimated that the “success rate” (not complete cure!) was approximately 40%. What this means is that 60% of the cancer cases do not respond to conventional medical treatments and they are termed incurable or terminal. These patients generally turn to alternative therapy, after that.

Step 3: Take Herbs

CA Care Therapy uses herbs that help people with cancer. This is well documented in the book The Cancer Care Therapy (available at our centers and Books on Cancer website).

There are a few misconceptions about the use of herbs. Also, there are some people who are dead against the use of herbs.

Maria Treban in her book: Health Through God’s Pharmacy answered the nagging question of whether one can overuse herbs. She said, Using herbs is never harmful. On the contrary, they just maintain your health. I am a living example. I have been drinking herbal teas since 1949!

In his book: The Best of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Dr. Xie Zhu-fan, a WHO consultant on traditional medicine, presented data to answer such questions as whether herbs contradict or are harmful when used together with surgery, radiation or chemotherapy. He concluded that herbs are beneficial to patients during their chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Indeed our experiences also show that the use of herbs benefit cancer patients who were undergoing conventional medical treatments. The question of harm or contradiction with modern drugs does not arise.

Also, many educated patients are concerned whether the use of herbs has side-effects. The use of correct herbs is never harmful as evidenced by the testimonies of the people taking these herbs.

Step 4: Eat Rightly

CA Care has come out with a book: Food & Cancer, reflecting our belief that the main contributing cause of cancer is food, eating habits and lifestyle. We also know that many cancer patients who are doing well suffer relapse soon after reverting to their previous bad dietary habits.

We believe that diet by itself cannot heal cancer as much as drugs alone cannot cure it. However, diet is important and can determine the progress and direction in the healing of cancer.

CA Care advocates that your diet consists of:

  • · Fresh vegetables either raw or cooked.
  • · Lots of fresh juices and fruits.
  • · Whole grains, cereals, seeds and nuts in as unprocessed form as possible.
  • · Avoid meat and dairy products.
  • · Avoid table refined salt, white sugar and cooking oil with trans-fat.
  • · Avoid all preserved, canned or processed food.

Step 5: Lead a Happy Stress-free Life

A heart of peace gives life to the body. Proverbs 14:30

We advocate that you do proper exercise daily but do not over-strain yourself. Have a good rest and make sure you sleep well. Cultivate a positive attitude. Avoid anxiety, anger and other negative emotions. Learn how to forgive and forget. Live a loving and stress-free life.

We also find that those who receive full-hearted family support and tender loving care, manage very well. The love, care and understanding of the spouse, children and relatives are very important. At the same time, the sick are encouraged to turn to God for healing and peace.

Healing Crisis

Healing Crisis

It is possible that after taking the recommended herbs, you may experience discomforts such as diarrhea, fatigue and even intense pain. Your condition seems to be worse than before. If this is what you experience, DO NOT WORRY. What you are experiencing is called healing crisis. CONTINUE TAKING THE HERBS! However, if the problem continues for too long and you are getting worse each day, it is advisable to stop taking the herbs first and seek advice. Generally, after a few days, the intensity of such discomforts decreases with each day. You will gain strength and your condition will improve after some days.

A healing crisis occurs as a result of the body engaging in the process of eliminating the toxins that it has accumulated over the years. Now the toxins are being liberated from their storage places within you and they are affecting the body in full force, resulting in rashes, boils, itchiness, swelling, phlegm and even intense pain. When the process of elimination has been sufficiently accomplished, your health improves.

During this detoxification process, do not take any drugs or medication to suppress the symptoms. Allow the healing process to proceed without hindrance. For example, you may experience diarrhea for three days. You should allow this to happen and take more fluid to aid the cleansing process. Perhaps on the fourth day, the diarrhea may just stop automatically. Of course you must not be too complacent as well. If your health deteriorates with each day or the problem persists for too long, then stop taking the herbs and seek professional advice or see your doctor immediately.

The healing crisis is recognized in all systems of natural healing. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is known as the law of cure.

Healing Takes Time

Cancer does not strike like a thunderbolt. In the book, What You Really Need to Know about Cancer,Dr. Robert Buckman estimated that it takes about two and a half years for a simple cancer call to grow into a lump, the size of a small grape which is visible to the naked eye. If it takes that much time for a lump to form, it is logical to expect that it may take that much time for the lump to regress and disappear through the process of natural healing.

Most of the patients who come to CA Care are in the advanced stages of cancer. After taking the herbs for a week or two, they usually experience some relief and this raises their expectation that healing should come immediately. Such high expectations is indeed regrettable and unrealistic. Cancer patients should be patient for healing takes time.

Even more tragic is that, after regaining some health and doing rather well, some patients even go further and take additional herbs touted by others in the hope that their healing comes even faster. This is indeed the wrong thing to do! We know of many cases where patients die soon after taking such instant healing herbs. Cancer patients cannot afford to make any more mistakes because this will cost them their lives.

Do Not Be Complacent

One most misinformed or misunderstood idea that many patients believe is that cancer is cured after one has undergone surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy. This is often further compounded by the doctors’ pronouncement that everything is alright! The patient goes home and continues to live their previous lifestyle. Unfortunately, soon afterwards, the patient suffers a relapse i.e., the cancer comes back. We know of cased in which a relapse occur even after 10 to 15 years in remission. This implies that there is no certainty in the complete cure of cancer. Perhaps cancer patients are not aware or have not been told of the disturbing fact that conventional medical treatments can only help (not cure) 40% of all cancer cases. Unfortunately, 60% of the cancer cases do not respond to these medical procedures.

In her book, The Activist Cancer Patient, Beverly Zakarian said that one of the few things known with certain about (ovarian) cancer is that it is uncertain.

Do not be misled. If you think that you are done with cancer, cancer may not be done with you yet. So, do not be complacent. We take the view that patients need to consider the change to healthy lifestyle and diet as permanent. From our experience, we know that most patients would ask for theirunhealthy and forbidden food the moment they feel well enough to talk and eat. This is indeed most regrettable and disappointing. It makes no sense to revert back to an old lifestyle or habits at the first sign of regaining health. Also, patients may need to continue taking the herbs and cleanse the body for a long time yet. There are people who would reduce or stop totally, taking the herbs after the initial signs of recovery. The risk of a relapse is too great to take any chances.

    Examples of Healing Crisis

Patients have been warned that they shall experience a healing crisis within a week or two after starting to take the herbs. This is an unavoidable process each and everyone has to go through.

Experience of JW from Hawaii

JW had terminal lung cancer. He declined both chemotherapy and radiotherapy and took herbs instead. Sure enough JW went through hell. This was what happened.

Ø       Today (Aug 15) is 9th day I take herbs, and 19th day on cancer diet.  I am e-mailing you about pain I am having in right lung area since August 11 (my Monday).

Ø       Aug 11: (my Mon).  Started feeling a pulling, rolling pain in my right lung area – intermittent.

Ø       Aug 12:  (my Tues). Felt some pain when I woke up.  When I massaged area, pain went away.  Very bloated – pain increases when I am bloated.

Ø       Aug 13:  (my Wed).  Woke up in morning with pain.  After bowel movement pain went away.  Diarrhea in morning, bowel movement smelled more rancid than usual.  Late afternoon – pain got severe; up most of night with pain.  Very bloated.

Ø       Aug 14:  (my Thurs).  Woke up with much less pain, less bloated.  During the day, pain seemed to be getting better.  But during night, pain returned – pulling, rolling pain – like pleurisy.

Ø       Aug 15:  (today, my Fri).  I am writing this e-mail at 7:20 a.m.  Pain is now constant.  I have not had this pain before.

Ø       Aug 15: Since I wrote the e-mail above, I slept several hours.  When I woke up, the pain had subsided.  Now I only feel pain if I cough, or move a certain way (stretch, get up from the bed etc.).  I am not sure if the pain that I described below will return, but I wanted to let you know how I feel now. Thank you for your encouraging words and for the article about AZ. It helped me understand what I’ve been experiencing during the last few days.

Ø       Aug 15: Before I took the herbs, I was not having pain. The night of my healing crisis (Aug 13) I was convinced your herbs had accelerated the cancer, and the cancer was eating me alive.  That night, I remembered I had some prescription pain pills (Oxycontin) from a back injury.  I badly wanted to take a handful of pills to stop the pain, but a friend talked me out of it.  I paced the floor in agony, until early morning when the pain subsided.  I still have soreness and occasional pain in right rib cage.  But if the pain on Aug 13 was at 100, it is now at 4 – nothing I cannot live with.

But JW did not give up. He persevered and passed his first important test of confidence. Hear what he said in this video interview.

Dr. Gelb: At first Dr. Chris wanted to send only 2 weeks of herbs, as he was not sure if JW likes the teas, because so many people don’t like it.

JW: It was during the first 10 days, I think. Dr. Chris told me: you are experiencing a healing crisis. Ooh! After the 5th day, I got sick as a dog. I thought I was dying. I thought the tea was killing me. I thought to myself: well, I might just as well go ahead and die. I was sick. I couldn’t get out of bed.

Dr. Gelb: You wrote about that on the internet, in one of his newsletters, it’s called Sharing Experiences.

JW: Anyway, it passed and I haven’t had any problem since.

We requested JW to write in a bit more detail about his healing crisis. This law of healing is very little understood by patients. After taking the herbs for a week or two, patients are expected to go through hell (like in the case of JW) or experience some discomforts. This is unavoidable. Let what JW wrote and went through be an good example to others.

This is what JW wrote:

The night of my healing crisis [day 8], I was convinced your herbs had accelerated my cancer and the cancer was eating me alive.  I wanted pain pills to take the pain away.  I have a high tolerance for pain, but this was like nothing I had experienced before in my 79 years.  It was hell.  I paced the floor in agony, feeling like a trapped, caged animal – I couldn’t get away from the excruciating pain.  As far as I was concerned, it was either take pain pills to stop the misery, or die and be put out of my misery.  But, for some reason, I allowed my friend, Dr. Gelb, to talk me out of taking pills – reflecting on that night, I don’t think I had any energy to argue with Dr. Gelb about the pills…and somehow I got through the night.

Then the next morning (day 9), I woke up with much less pain and less bloated, and things seemed to get better during the day.  I was so relieved to be feeling better, that I never thought about stopping the herb program.  I was just glad that the pain had passed.

But that night (day 9), the pain returned – not as bad as the night before, but bad nonetheless – a pulling, rolling pain, like pleurisy.  The pain felt like it was consuming me – all I experienced was pain, and I felt like hell.  Fortunately, that night I was able to sleep for brief periods, which gave me a break from the pain.  But when I woke up the next morning (day 10) at about 6 a.m., the pain was constant, which is why I e-mailed you about 80 minutes later (7:20 am).  About 3½ hours after that, after I had slept for several hours, the pain subsided, and as you predicted in an e-mail to me later that day, the pain went away soon after that.

I do hope that what we have done here with the video and the testimonials will encourage more people to seek your help and stick with the CA Care program.  There are too many of us dying unnecessarily.  I hope that those who read the articles will understand that there is light at the end of the tunnel, especially about the healing crisis – what is a bit of pain, if you can save your life?  I am so thankful that I lived through the healing crisis and didn’t give up.  And I want to say to everyone, Don’t give up – your precious life is worth it.

Family members are also alarmed when patients go through the healing crisis. To understand this, we posed two questions to Dr. Gelb.

Having seen JW suffering going through the healing crisis –  how do you feel as a person who was around seeing JW was getting worse and not better after taking the herbs?

Dr. Gelb: First, let me say that when I saw JW worsening after taking the herbs in early August 2008, I had no idea what was going on.  I had read quite a few of the materials on your website, but hadn’t come across information that described what JW was experiencing.

As far as how I felt when I saw JW getting worse, initially, I felt disappointed and sad. Disappointed because I’d had a lot of hope in the herbs – when we first learned about the program, everything about it felt so right; sad because it seemed like the herbs weren’t working, and the cancer was advancing.  To me, this was a loss – a loss of hope, of healing, and of a chance to conquer this enemy.  After a few moments of feeling disappointed and sad, and even shedding a few tears, those feelings passed.

At one point, I also experienced some self-doubt, thinking, “Oh my goodness, I was the one who introduced JW to these herbs, what have I encouraged my friend to get involved with?” Fortunately, that was a fleeting thought.

I also felt empathy and compassion for JW because he was in so much pain, and I understood why he wanted prescription pain killers.  But one thing I knew for certain – taking pain killers was only going to do harm, not good.  I knew that if JW took pain killers, this would obstruct the herb program.  I’m not sure how I knew this with such conviction, but there was no question in my mind that pain killers were not an option, and that if JW were to take them, it would be as if he were reverting back to the same toxic lifestyle that, in my opinion, played a huge part in him contracting cancer – a lifestyle of poor diet, lack of exercise, smoking, toxic medications.

Was there any doubt in your mind that the herbs are dangerous, not effective or did you feel it would work out well somehow?

Dr. Gelb: It never entered my mind that the herbs were dangerous, I just didn’t think they were working, nor did I have any idea whether they would work for JW.  So I just allowed myself to feel the emotions I mentioned above, after which I was able to accept what was happening – this didn’t mean I was giving up, or that I liked what was happening, but the acceptance allowed me to be in the moment and do what I needed to do – help JW stay on track by preparing the herbs and meals for him, since he was in no shape to do so.

Experience of AZ from Medan, Indonesia

Az-M380 is a 52-year-old female from Indonesia. About seven years ago (in 2001) she detected a lump in her left breast. She refused medical treatment and opted for jamu instead. Az told us that she refused to seek further medical treatment … due to the side effects.

Az heard about us and decided to fly to Penang to seek our help on 6 June 2008 and was prescribed Caspsule A, Breast L Tea, Breast M Tea, Bone Tea, Pain Tea and Upper Edema Tea.

After five days on these herbs, Az and her husband reported the following:

1)     She started taking the herbs on Friday evening. The next two days – Saturday and Sunday, she suffered the most severe pains in her entire life. She thought she would die and requested her husband to bring her home to Medan.

2)     Az persisted in taking the herbs. The pains subsided and after five days, 80% of the pains were gone. The pulling pains in the collarbone which she suffered earlier were also gone.

3)     Her swollen left arm became softer.

4)     There was less pain in her right thigh.

Az suffered a healing crisis after taking the herbs. Many patients would have cursed Chris Teo for this suffering. Patients should learn from Az’s experience. Below are excerpts of our conversation about the healing crisis that Az had gone through. This was recorded on 11 June 2008, five days after she started taking the herbs.

Chris: Did you take the herbs after seeing me last Friday?

Az: Yes – for five days now. Oh, I suffered so much pain after I started taking the herbs.

Husband: Since 2001 up to this day, my wife suffered the most severe pain in her entire life during the past few days.

Az: The pains were so severe that I was not able to sleep.

Husband: I too was unable to sleep because of that. She was so restless – moved here and there. She had to put her hands against the wall and she wanted me to bring her home to Medan that very night.

Az: I told my husband that I might die here that night.

Chris: Very good, very good. If you take the herbs and you did not suffer such “healing crisis” then the herbs are not doing anything to you. They are not effective! So I am glad to hear this! Good for you. Okay, tell us what happened. On the first day, did you suffer any pain?

Az: On the first day – a few hours after I took the herbs, I started to feel the pains. Then the pains continued to the second day. On the third day the pains were just as severe. But on the fourth day the pains was less.

Chris: Good. After taking the herbs, generally you would suffer pains. These pains become more severe. Then after a few days, the pains gradually decrease. So, tell us when was the most painful experience after taking the herbs?

Az: I took the herbs on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday the pains were really severe. By Monday the pains had decreased.

Husband: The pains started in the left collarbone area, than they moved down to the left breast and then the whole left arm. We could not even touch her arm. It was so painful.

Az: I really do not know how to describe such pains.

Chris: While suffering such pains, did you ever feel of wanting to throw away the herbs and give up? You have lost confidence in the herbs?

Az: No! I told my husband that this could be the reaction from the herbs. I would continue taking the herbs.

Chris: Did you stop taking the herbs during those five days?

Az: No, I continued taking them.

Husband: I told her. Continue taking the herbs. Believe in the herbs! We have been to so many other alternative healers and we believe that the “real” doctor is here.

Chris: (Checking through her medical history). Oh, you have gone to so many alternative healers before. Let me ask you – after receiving their treatments, did you ever experience such pains or healing crisis like you had just experienced in the past few days?

Az and husband: No, no – never!

Husband: As I have said earlier, since 2001 – when she first had this problem, she had never suffered such severe pains before. The pains on that Friday night were the start of the Mother of all Pains.

Az: I had never suffered such pains before.

Chris: Most patients would have given up or stop taking the herbs after such pains.

Az and Husband: No, no, we did not do that.

Chris: Yes, I would predict that such reaction would happen to you. Today is the fifth day – have the pains become much less?

Az: Yes, very much less. If Friday was a 100 point, today it is only 20 points.

Chris: I am predicting that in the next few days you would be much better and you will suffer much less pains.

Husband: Tomorrow we plan to return to Medan.

Chris: Okay, after all that experience, do you still believe in the herbs?

Az: Yes!

Herbs & Their Preparation

Most cancer patients who came to us are medically written-off cases. They have exhausted all avenues of modern medical treatments. So, in addition to detoxifying the body, we have to alleviate many other discomforts like pain, severe weakness, severe coughs with excessive phlegm or breathlessness, constipation (often, morphine-induced), ascites, distended abdomen, edema, etc. We have formulated herbal teas to provide relief and healing of such problems. The following are some of the herbs provided by us.

Herbs for Detoxification

Capsule A This consists of a mixture of herbs for general cancer. All cancer patients are to take two capsules, three to four times per day, preferably on empty stomach. If the patient has gastric problems these capsules are to be taken after food. The function of Capsule A is to detoxify the body system.

Capsule B This consists of a mixture of herbs which is taken together with (in addition to) Capsule A with honey water, for persons with liver problems or suffering from liver cancer. As with Capsule A, Capsule B is taken three to four times per day.

deTox TeaC-Tea and LL-Tea These are herbal teas and we recommend that a person drinks one to two litres per day. Take this tea as your daily drinking water. The function of this tea is for general cleansing of the body. DeTox is for those with NPC, prostate and bladder cancer; and also people with urinary problems in general. C-Tea is for those with various cancers while LL-Tea is specifically for those with liver cancer and leukemia.

 Herbs for Pain

Pain is the most common problem experienced by cancer patients. The pain can be due to inflammation, a tumour, or the tumour pressing on the the nerves or organs. Tumour metabolites can sometimes stimulate the nerves and muscles or joints to cause pain. The basic dictum of Chinese medicine is that, If there is pain, there is no free flow, if there is no free flow, there is pain. Lack of free flow could be due to stagnation or stasis, thus obstructing the flow of qi and blood. Deficiency of qi may also result in poor blood circulation. This can also cause pain. A few herbal mixtures have been formulated to help patients who are in pain.

Pain Tea This herbal mixture does not contain any pain killer. It relieves pain by promoting blood circulation. Depending on severity, Pain Tea can be taken one to six times per day. Prepare the tea per instructions found at the top of the box. Initially, patients can gradually decrease the intake of pain killers or morphine when they start taking our herbs. In many cases, after taking Pain Tea, patients do not have to take morphine or pain killers any more. They do not have to continue taking the Pain Tea once the pain is completely gone. Pain Tea actually heals the pain.

Pain Solution This herbal mixture is steeped in Chinese wine and is usually recommended for those in need of quick relief from pain. It is for external use only. The solution is applied onto the painful part of the body.

Herbs for Coughs

A cough is not a disease. It is a symptom of lung disorder or the dysfunction of the internal organs i.e., internal injuries of the spleen and kidneys. Such impairment could lead to accumulation of fluid, phlegm and fire. Depending on the syndrome, patients are to take the appropriate herbal cough mixtures.

Cough No. 1 is for dry, long standing coughs with little mucous. Sometimes the sputum can be blood-tinged. There is dryness in the mouth and throat and feverish sensations in the palms and soles.

Cough No. 3 is for coughs producing yellow, thick and sticky sputum. Sometimes, the patient may feel fullness in the chest, has shortness of breath and may experience nausea or vomiting.

Cough No. 5 is for coughs producing thick, sticky, white phlegm. There may be fullness in the chest, nausea or headache and dizziness.

Cough No. 6 is generally for elderly persons who have productive coughs with shortness of breath, chest upset or indigestion. The sputum is whitish and foamy.

Cough No. 11 is for non-productive coughs with an itchy feeling in the throat. The patient is with or without chill or fever.

Cough No. 12 is for those with phlegm that seems to be stuck in the throat and is difficult to expectorate.

Herbs for Constipation

Constipation refers to difficulty in passing stools. This could be due to excess internal heat leading to dry intestines. Weakness of the body is another cause of constipation and in this case, the stools are not necessarily dry or hard. Most cancer patients suffer from constipation. Their stools are dry and bowels are moved only once in several days. These patients usually produce small amounts of deep yellow urine. Elderly patients generally have difficulty in passing stools although there is an urge to defecate.

Herbs for Phlegm and Fluid Retention

Retention of phlegm and fluid leads to excessive water in certain parts of the body resulting in swelling, bloatedness and ascites. Phlegm is thick and turbid while fluid is clear and thin. Chinese medical scholars are of the opinion that phlegm and retained fluid were of the same origin, holding that fluid is the initial form of phlegm. The cause is the malfunction of the spleen leading to disorder of the transportation, transformation and distribution of the body fluid. This disorder is manifested in various symptoms. Ascities is the internal accumulation of fluid, especially in the peritoneal cavity, causing the abdomen to swell. Edema is the accumulation of fluid in the subcutaneous tissues expressed by puffiness of the head, face, eyelids, limbs, abdomen, back and scrotum. It is a result of malfunctions of the heart, liver and kidney. Abdominal distension is the enlargement of the abdomen accompanied by dark yellow coloration of the skin or visible superficial veins on its surface.

Ascities Tea Many cancer patient suffer from ascities. The medical answer to this problem is to puncture the abdominal cavity and draw out the fluid. In severe cases, this has to be done as often as once every few days. An alternative to surgical intervention is to take Ascites Tea, one to three times per day and experience the amazing results!

Edema-Upper Tea is for the swelling of the face, hands and other upper parts of the body.

Edema-Lower Tea is for the swelling of the legs and the lower parts of the body.

Abdominal Distension Tea is for the tight and hardened enlargement of the abdomen. In severe cases, the tea can be taken two to three times per day.

Lung Phlegm Tea is for those in which there is fluid or phlegm in the lungs resulting in laboured or difficult breathing.

Herbs for Strengthening Body Resistance

Most cancer patients who come to us are generally weak or exhausted. The use of proper herbs to increase body resistance and body vitality is recommended.

Chemo-Tea Those who are currently on chemotherapy generally benefit from taking this tea. It strengthens the body, reduces nausea and vomiting and encourages appetite.

Radio-Tea is especially formulated for those who are currently undergoing radiotherapy. It strengthens the body, encourages appetite and helps in blood formation.

Appetite Tea helps in restoring appetite.

Vomiting Tea helps those who experience problems of nausea and vomiting.

Instructions and tips on how to prepare and take the herbal teas:
Tips for preparation:

1.        You will need a cooking pot (glass, clay or stainless steel) for preparation of tea. Choose one that is big enough to prevent boiling over.

2.        To save time spent in kitchen preparing the teas, you may boil more than one herbal tea at the same time. In this case you will need two or more pots and stoves. All teas must be boiled separately, strained and kept in separate thermos flasks.

3.        The teas are to be taken separately, at separate times (preferably at least 1 -2 hours apart). Before the appropriate time to take the prepared herbal tea, pour out the tea into a cup to allow it to cool to a comfortable temperature for drinking.

4.        Do not keep the tea overnight. It may turn sour.

Instructions are given at the top of the box. Below are some tips and general instructions for the preparation of the various herbs.

deTox TeaC-Tea and LL-Tea

How to prepare:  The amount of tea to use is stated on the label. Boil tea in 1 litre water. When water boils, lower flame and simmer for about 25 minutes. Turn off the flame and allow sediments to settle. Sieve tea into a thermos flask to keep for drinking. We recommend that you drink 1 or 2 litres of tea per day. Drink tea throughout the day as drinking water. When you have finished the tea, you may drink water as usual.

Other Herbal Teas:

How to prepare: The amount of tea to use is stated on the label. Generally you need to use 6 Tablespoonfuls (heap) tea to 3 cups (1 cup about 230 – 250 ml) water in a cooking pot. Put to boil without covering the pot. Use medium flame when water starts boiling. Continue boiling until about 1 cup water is left. Strain the tea. You can discard the debris or reboil it to make another cup of tea to drink later. Allow tea to cool down (warm) before consuming.

Drink one type of at a time. Give an hour or two, before you take the next tea. If you find the taste in your mouth is unpleasant, munch a small piece of fruit after consuming tea. That will help, but do not take sweets or artificial sweeteners.

Pain Tea:

How to prepare: Add 3 Tablespoonful (heap) tea to 3 cups (1 cup about 230 – 250 ml) water in a cooking pot. Put to boil as described earlier.

Tips: Pain Tea can also be boiled together with another herbal tea (e.g., Brain, Bone, Breast, Cervical, Lung, Liver P, Lymphoma, Prostate, Stomach, Utero-Ovary, Ascites, Abdominal Distension, etc.). This saves preparation time. In this case, use 3 Tablespoons of Pain Tea + 6 Tablespoons of any tea into 3 or 4 cups water and boil down to 1 cup. Note that only Pain Tea can be mixed with other teas. Other teas need to be boiled separately.

Patient taking Breast M, Liver P, Ascites and 5 times of Pain Tea per day.

1. 6 Tablespoons Breast M + 3 Tablespoons of Pain Tea: Boil as described above.

2. 6 Tabolespoons of Liver P +   3 Tablespoons of Pain Tea:  Boil as described above.

3. 6 Tablespoons of Ascites + 3 Tablespoons of Pain Tea:  Boil as described above.

4. Patient needs to take 2 more doses of Pain Tea:  Add 6 (3+3) Tablespoons Pain to 6 cups water and boil as described above. Boil until 2 cups. Take one cup of Pain Tea at a time.

More tips: Sometimes patient takes finds it difficult to drink too much teas. In such a situation, the teas can be concentrated by boiling longer to reduce the volume to ¾ or ½ a cup instead of 1 cup.

Take for example a patient who is prescribed:

1. Capsule A + B, 2 + 2 capsules three times a day. Note: Capsule A+B need to be taken with honey water. In this case use a half-teaspoon of honey in warm water and drink it together with the capsules. If you are only taking Capsule A, then it is not necessary to drink with honey water.

2. LL-tea, drink as drinking water.

3. Breast M tea, once a day.

4. Liver P tea, once a day.

5. Ascites tea, once a day.

6. Pain tea, 3 times a day.

You may plan your schedule as below:

Wake up: Take 2 cap A + 2 cap B with honey water, on empty stomach. If you have gastric problem, take capsules after breakfast. Honey is for medicinal purpose. Do not replace with sugar.

Mid-morning, ONE hours after breakfast. Take Breast M + Pain teas.

ONE HOUR before or after lunch: Take 2 cap A + 2 cap B with honey water.

Mid-afternoon: Ascites + Pain teas.

Late evening ONE hour before dinner. Liver P + Pain Teas.

Before going to bed: Take 2 cap A + 2 cap B with honey water.

The above schedule is just an example. You don’t have to strictly follow the suggestion. Please make your own schedule that suits your circumstances.
